This cleaning robot from Vileda is one of the highest rated models in the UK market at the moment. Here we take a closer look at this robot vacuum cleaner with a full and detailed review.
For around £100, this model is at the lower end price point for robot vacuums. The Vileda brand is very well known in the UK market, and they do an entire range of high quality cleaning products and materials. When this model was first released it was priced at around £150 but that has dropped by around 30%. The average price for robotic vacuum cleaners is £200-£400, with several costing even way above that, so this Vileda Cleaning Robot is right at the bottom of the price range
It is Amazon’s best selling model in the robotic vacuum catagory right now. It sells consistently, looks really good and with a clean black finish, which makes it very stylish. The dark colour also means it will match in with all types of kitchen styles and designs.
It has a large number of buyer reviews over at Amazon and has achieved and maintained a very good rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars from actual buyers. So that is a high rating and one they have maintained for a long time. That is always a very good sign of a high quality product.
Vileda do have just two models of robot vacuum, but they are right up there with any other brand on the market.
They are at the lower end of the market so don’t have all the bells and whistles, but are great value.

Below you can see a video of this Vileda cleaning robot in action. As you will see in the video this model has all the basic features to make vacuuning your floors a breeze
With an overall 4.5 star rating this robotic cleaner is well rated by buyers. It is not as high as the iRobot Roomba 620 model which costs £320 and is rated at 4.6 out of 5 stars. That said, it is still a very high rating and, at less than a third of the price, well worth a closer look.
This model is a round robot and so will not clean completely into corners. At the £100 price point it is also not going to be the most technologically advanced. But if you are just wanting a cleaner to do a basic job of vacuuming dust and pet hair from your floors it’s certainly a better option than having to drag the hoover out from under the stairs. Just don’t expect this Vileda model to have a conversation with you while it does the work.
64% of buyers gave this model a full 5 star rating, and 1% of buyers only a 1 star. It is normal to find some buyers expressing disappointment with their purchase. With this one there was only one buyer who left a 1 star review. The complaint was that after 5 weeks the machine would only do cleaning in limited circles. It doesn’t appear the customer asked for a replacement. I’m sure Vileda would have done so.
I have however summarised what buyers said about this Vileda model.
One buyer and reviewer Christopher but it in perspective:
Great bit of kit. Entertainment for the dogs and cats. Will never beat a human, but allows us blokes to multi task!!!
and J Edwards commented:
In a world where Robot Cleaners tend to start around £300, at just over £100 my Vileda Robot has exceeded my expectations. No, it will never be as good as job as a proper a vacuum, yes it will need a full charge to give a large room a decent vacuum and yes, you will need to empty it out after that clean. However the time it frees up to do far more interesting things is worth its weight in gold.
Like all cleaning robots there are limitations. This basic model is not programmable and has no ‘return to base’ function. Recharging the battery is a manual task. (Hey – for £100?)
Battery life was disappointing for some buyers.
One buyer review from an Amazon customer said this:
Suction is ok for general dust and hair, even picked up cat litter but is of course not on par with a normal vacuum, even a handheld one. Combined combined with a handheld my primarily laminate/tiled floor property can be fully hoovered or at least kept presentable.
Vileda are a well established brand and they make very good products. It is always great when reading reviews that you do not see a large number of bad reviews. This is certainly the case with this model. Buyers really like it and say that the product works a treat. It wouldn’t be an Amazon bestseller otherwise.
The Vileda Cleaning Robot is a basic but very reasonable product which is towards the lower end of the price point range and is great value.
Today the best robot vacuum cleaners are becoming so advanced that if I blink for just a second it’s like a Star Wars set brought to life.
The early models were of course very basic in how they operated and only slightly successful. Now though they can scurry about when we’re not even at home, vacuum the floors and go recharge themselves ready for their next mission. The future has arrived.
Using technology developed initially by the military for among other things mine clearing, todays robots can navigate their way around the house and over the typically different floor surfaces in the home. Wood, carpet, tile, vynil and even rugs are no problem.
Most can be pre-programmed to carry out the cleaning at a suitable time – you needn’t even be at home, while other top end models are wifi enabled and may be controlled by an app on smartphones or other devices. Star Wars or what?
To illustrate – check out the video below as the new Neato Robotics Connected with WiFi App function is described. Amazing!

Current Amazon #1 Bestseller.
There are over 80 reviews on this particular Vileda Cleaning Robot and on average it gets a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars.
It is officially the bestselling robotic vacuum cleaner on Amazon, recently overtaking the Robovac XD. At more than £50 cheaper (at present around £100) it is selling like hot cakes.
Buyers were in the main really impressed and surprised with overall performance considering the very reasonable price. Don’t forget it costs only 1/5 of the price of the most expensive robotic vacuum cleaner so don’t expect miracles
As it is a slightly smaller model than most there is also a longer charge time of around 5 hours. Easily handled if you just recharge after use.
With the basic price comes a more basic robot. There is no docking station with the Vileda so it physically has to be plugged in to allow recharging.
Also it is not programmable so cleaning must take place when someone is home to start the unit. A dis-advantage yes but then just look at the price.
This model is currently discounted by over £100 on the original selling price and can currently be bought for around £220. It boasts an average review rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars, a high result in this catagory.
Unlike most other models, which are circular, the Neato range of robot vacuums have one straight edge. This makes cleaning right into corners possible without any loss of suction and is a big plus over the round cleaners.
Neato Robotics have a fantastic range of models and claim the best suction of all robotic vacuum cleaners. With a bagless collection bin and high performance filter (great for allergy sufferers) you begin to see what the extra investment can deliver.
One buyer actually said he was enjoying sitting on the floor for the first time in years.
If your budget can stretch a little I think it’s worth the money.
Obviously the enhanced version of the above XV Signature – hence the ‘Pro’ tag.
If you need even greater protection for allergy sufferers, as I do, the Pro model upgrades to high performance filters and includes combi brush attachments.
Neato claim this gives best possible cleaning with the brush lifting even the most difficult pet hairs, while those nasty dust mites and all their friends are also removed.
Strange but true. The approval ratings of this RoboVac XD model do not put it in the top 5 table of best robotic vacuum cleaners.
It was, until very recently, Amazon’s bestselling model with 125 reviews and an average approval rating of 4 out of 5 stars from buyers who responded.
At around £170 it is hard to argue that the RoboVac XD doesn’t provide great value for money. It has been available since early 2014 so has been well floor tested over a good period of time.
The onboard computer and advanced sensors makes sure no part of your floor is left untouched. All you do is charge and turn it on.
With this model I can choose from 5 operating modes as follows: Auto, Spot, Edge Cleaning mode, Mute and ZigZag.
Buyers were very impressed with the cleaning ability of this RoboVac. Charge time lasts around 2.5 hours with a return to charger feature in case you forget.
It also handles dog hairs particularly well.
Any downside? As with any hoover the bag is emptied manually when filled.
A top buy at Amazon.
